FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Last Sunday’s Gospel
The mystery of the Trinity was celebrated last Sunday. It is our belief that Jesus is fully God as Son, the Father is fully God as Father and the Paraclete is fully God as Holy Spirit that is core to us as Christians. The Old Testament people knew of God as Yahweh and He was revealed to the people as Father by Jesus. This was a shift in understanding. Even the Apostles did not understand Jesus sending His Spirit until Pentecost. Today we still try to understand the Trinity in human terms - St Patrick used a shamrock or clover for example, but we don’t really ‘get it’. That’s why it is a mystery. The next great Feast is this coming Sunday, Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ. OLHC Rosemeadow is hosting the Procession for the Diocese at 2.30pm.

Student Learning Reports - Week 9
Towards the end of Week 9 (next week), Semester 1 Student Learning Reports will be made available via Compass. You will be notified via Compass about this. These reports capture the students' learning ‘gains’ and ‘growths’ over Terms 1 and 2. Teachers use the Common Grade Scale to assign an achievement level to students. They also assign students an ‘effort’ grade that reflects the amount of effort they apply to their learning. Please take some time to read through your child’s report and discuss this with them.
Parent, Teacher and Student Interviews- Week 10
The Compass portal is currently open for parents to book a meeting with your child’s teacher. This year, we invite the students to attend the meeting as well. The idea behind this is that the students will be able to articulate their strengths and challenges in learning and be part of their learning conversation. We will have a later evening (Monday 30th June) followed by afternoon sessions throughout the week. Please ensure that you book your meeting time soon. Thank you to the 250+ families that have booked a time already.
Events at MIEV
If you are looking for a list of events/ special days/Masses, these should all be located on our Parent Calendar. There are multiple ways to find this information; Compass, School website, Newsletter. If you are unsure, please just ask our friendly office staff.
Canberra Excursion
Students from our school travelled to Canberra for their Year 6 Canberra Camp, an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $30.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
Our Year 6 students recently returned from an exciting and educational trip to Canberra! Over two action-packed days, they explored Australia’s capital and deepened their understanding of government, democracy, and our nation’s history. Highlights included visiting Old Parliament House, Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, The Australian Institute of Sport, The National Arboretum and The National Capital Exhibition. The students represented our school with pride, showing curiosity and respect. It was a memorable experience full of learning, friendship, and fun!
