FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Last Sunday’s Gospel…
We heard about the woman being stoned in adultery. That was the traditional punishment at the time according to the law so technically they weren’t doing anything wrong even though it seems barbaric to us today. Jesus alone took pity on her and showed mercy. He also reminded the crowd they were also in need of mercy. Jesus did not condemn the woman but his female words are a powerful reminder for us all. “Go on your way and sin no more.” Mercy and forgiveness are there for us by God’s grace but we have to step up and be better too.

ANZAC March
I have yet to receive details for the ANZAC March from the organisers. I trust it will be similar to previous years where we will assemble at the Campbelltown Mall end of Queen Street at about 7.45am, march to Mawson Park, participate in the service and lay a wreath and then meet families to collect students. Please keep a look out for a Compass message where I will confirm the correct time and other details.
Pupil Free Days for Term 2
We have a Pupil Free Staff Development Day on Monday 2 June to complete our Berry Street Educational Model Training. There will be a second day towards the end of the term and as soon as we have confirmation of the date, we will notify you. There has been an increase in the entitlement of Staff Development Days to eight across the year, one of which is a Staff Spirituality Day. We have tried to minimise impact on families by having two at the beginning of the year and two at the end - the maximum allowed. Each of the other terms will have two days and we will get dates to you as soon as possible.
Birthday Celebrations
We are getting an increasing number of parents bringing in very generous birthday treats for their child’s class such as books and lolly bags as well as cakes etc. We are very happy to celebrate birthdays with joy but please restrict your generosity to something small - cupcakes or a ‘Freddo’ frog or a small toy eg ball bearing maze. No lollipops please. We need to be mindful of how students feel if families are unable to provide large gifts, the distribution of lots of sweet treats when parents may prefer their children to eat only healthy food and the disruption to school life when teachers have to manage students losing things or playing with them at inappropriate times. If excessive amounts do come in, we will keep them at the office for you and return them at the end of the school day.
Eating Time Change Trial
As previously advised, an idea came from parents to trial eating after play instead of before play. We are keeping the healthier food for Break 1 but please be assured students are not ‘in trouble’ if they choose to eat something else. So when the bell goes, students will go out to play. As they return to class they will collect their food on the way in for their ten minutes of eating time. Younger classes will as usual, have more time if they need it. Please let us know how you find it when we begin next term.
When ordering Lunch from the canteen please keep in mind to order hot food for Lunch 1 and specify that it is for Lunch 1.
Winter Uniform Change Over
At the beginning of Term 2 students are welcome to start wearing their winter uniform. In previous years, we have given students a two-week change over as the weather has remained fairly warm moving into Term 2. The final change date is Mother’s Day.

Enrolments 2026
We have more enrolments than we have places for Kindergarten next year. It seems you are out there telling everyone we have a very good school - thank you! Please make sure you have applied if you have younger children you would like to enrol. We have already started interviewing siblings to ease the interview load next term. If you do not get forms in until after we have made offers and we have no positions left, siblings will not have a place with us even though you have children already in the school. It’s not too late yet but please get your applications in as soon as possible.
We wish you a lovely Easter with all the special blessings this holy season brings. Have a wonderful holiday away from the set routines of school and we look forward to working with you all again next term.
God Bless

Harmony Day Friday 4 April 2025
Celebrating Harmony Day – Friday
4 April
Last Friday, our school community came together to celebrate Harmony Day – a special occasion that reminds us of the importance of inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Students and staff dressed in traditional dress or in orange, the official colour of Harmony Day, symbolising social communication and meaningful conversations. As a school community we celebrated with the choir performing ‘We are Australian’, participated in prayer with Year 3, heard from students about what Harmony Day means to them and concluded with a beautiful, cultural showcase, highlighting the rich diversity within cultures we have here at Mary Immaculate Eagle Vale.
Together, we showed that ‘Everyone Belongs’ – and we couldn’t be prouder of the unity and respect our students demonstrated.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped organise such a meaningful day!
