Last Sunday’s Gospel…
It was the first Sunday of Advent last Sunday and Jesus spoke of the time when He would come again. We must be ready and watchful. This season leading to the birth of Jesus marks the beginning of the Church or liturgical year. The Good news began with the coming of Jesus so it is fitting that we reflect on the year we have had and look forward to a new one as we prepare for the
birth of a baby who literally changed life for all people on earth and still does.
News…
Classes 2025
Students will be meeting their class teachers this coming Monday afternoon. New students to the school for 2025 will also be included. The new classes will participate in some activities to help
students and teachers become familiar with each other and what the routines will be on the first day back in 2025 – where to put their bags etc. All students have been placed with at least one of the friends they requested so we anticipate a happy transition. We will let you know teachers and classes on Monday too.
Parent and Carer Information and Q&A Sessions
We had 4 parents for the afternoon session and seven for the evening one. All agreed to trial a model for 2025 of these Q and A sessions twice a term and a calendar of events published early in the new year that parents can help out with. In this way, much of the benefit long enjoyed by having an active P&F should be maintained with less work. While about two thirds of people wanted a P&F, only a quarter were prepared to be an executive member. We will review the model for 2025 and make further decisions moving forward. We also discussed:
- Homework;
- Lunches to be brought inside classrooms;
- Car line challenges;
- Having a healthy canteen and not having food rewards from staff;
- Playing before eating time;
- Possible use of text books;
- Buses for school events included in fees and much more.
I explained the reason for children catching buses to the Christmas Concert was that over 150 students turned up to the athletics carnival without nominating to catch buses. This meant there was no permission for them to travel nor any money paid towards their bus trip. This meant that the carnival had to run late because there weren’t enough buses. I am very appreciative of the time parents and carers took to come and, for their questions and feedback.
I also thank Ms Ahern and Mr Burns for giving their time by being present and collating material in preparation of the chat and maintaining notes for future reference. I encourage as many of you as possible to come in future too.

I very much look forward to your attendance at our upcoming events – Feast and Grandparent’s Day, Christmas Concert, End of Year Mass and Year 6 Farewell celebrations.

School bus service changes from 9 December
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have been advised of changes to bus services being implemented from December 9 that may impact our students travel arrangements.
Attached is a document outlining the route changes. In addition, we encourage all students to check timetables at https://transportnsw.info/routes/bus or use the Trip Planner at https://transportnsw.info/trip#/tripto check the times of the bus(es) they catch. Be sure to change the date in the options, and if using the Trip Planner, click “refine” and add “school bus” to ensure dedicated school services appear as a travel option.
Kind regards,
Mr Lindsay Burns
