FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS
Last Sunday’s Gospel…
The disciples were arguing about who was the best of them. Jesus realised this and brought a child over to them saying that all must be welcomed with dignity. A child was just as important as any of them. When we too welcome everyone, we also welcome Jesus and the One who sent Him. Sometimes we can forget that God is in every person we come across even if He’s hard to see. It also reminds us that we must serve each other rather than be served.

School Photos
We have school photos the first week back next term. Please make sure your children are presented according to the school dress code. The photos are a representation of our school and will be looked back on in years to come and we don’t want anyone cringing. All hair should be tied back or up – not left out loose or long. We have hair ties at school that we will give the students should they forget, just as we do on other school days. Hair cuts must not be extreme – shaved sections or significant differences in length that draw attention are not permitted. Please also make sure that earrings are small plain studs or sleepers and any religious ornament, for example a crucifix, is on a thin chain that will break easily if caught. The earrings are a safety issue too. I have seen some terrible accidents when earrings have been caught on things. Staff too must be presented professionally! We are proud of Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School, quite rightly, and want to show the world that too.
Please ensure you PRE-ORDER your Sibling photo before 16 October 2024. Siblings whose photos have been pre-ordered will be the ONLY SIBLINGS having their photos taken.
We are unable to take photos of EVERY sibling in the school due to time constraints.
Please order your Sibling Photos, Portrait and Group School Photos ON-LINE VIA THE FOLLOWING LINK:
Or visit: www.advancedlife.com.au

Pupil Free Days
As part of the revised Enterprise Agreement, staff have been awarded two additional Staff Development Days. These will occur on Monday 28 October, and Wednesday 18 December. This means that the last day for students for 2024 will be Tuesday 17 December.
I anticipate being able to give you all Pupil Free dates for 2025 at the beginning of the 2025 school year, or as soon as we receive the Diocesan calendar for 2025 so we can ensure we don’t have any date clashes for significant events. I do appreciate you having to make special arrangements for your children on these days so aim to give you as much notice as possible.
Classes 2025
We are well into recruiting season for staff for 2025. Once that finishes we will be looking at student classes for 2025. You still have plenty of time but please start to think about any students you may wish your child to be separated from in 2025. There may have been some social issues for examples and students could need a break from each other. There may also be some historical incidents. Please make sure you put this in writing to me via a note in the office bag or email to our info@ address even if you think we already know about it. With 550 students in the school we can forget things. I will respond so you know I have it and will try to comply with all requests. Please understand that separating your child from a number of students will not be possible. Requests to either be with or avoid a certain teacher will not be accommodated. If you have a concern about a teacher, please bring that to our attention through the usual processes. I will remind you again next term. We will need the information by the end of Week 4.
Celebration Sing Out
Our choir attended a workshop with other schools on Monday. We were lucky to have expert coaches here with our students. They did an excellent job and thoroughly enjoyed their day. I am looking forward to their performance!
God Bless,

Christmas Art
A core part of our Religious Education Curriculum is providing our students with opportunities to engage with the scriptures and reflect their own understanding and connection to our faith.
This term our students have been reflecting on the Birth of Christ and artistically represented their understanding of these key scriptures. Several of the artworks from both Year 5 and 6 were then chosen for the annual Diocesan Christmas Art Competition.
I just wanted to applaud our students for all of their hard work. We are all extremely proud of them!
Please do not send Noodle Cups for the canteen to add hot water for your child or containers with food to be heated by the canteen.
The Canteen Staff, School Teachers or School Support Officers are not allowed to heat up food for your child's lunch or add hot water for Noodle Cups.
Children can purchase Noodle Cups and Hot Food from the School Canteen where the temperature is monitored and the food approved by the NSW Healthy Canteens Association.
