Last Sunday’s Gospel…
The Transfiguration was the story we heard from last Sunday’s Gospel. Jesus was Transfigured into an almost divine form, partly so that the apostles, Peter, James and John, who went with Him would remember it after He had died. The voice of God the Father was also heard declaring Jesus to be His Beloved Son. This event would have given them the courage to face what was coming – Jesus too because we must always remember, Jesus was completely human so would have had human fears about what He was about to face with the coming rejection and crucifixion.

Newsletter
At times, with regards to letting you know about things, I am getting the response “I never read the newsletter.” At the parent forum, communication was listed as a big issue with parents not knowing what is happening in the school. Also, parents there reported they were getting too many Compass messages. So we have tried to put as many things out as possible once a week in the newsletter – but if people aren’t reading it, that’s not working either! So we are going to try some different things and I would appreciate your feedback.
Possible Changes to Communication
I have introduced subheadings to the Principal/AP section as you will have noticed and put some key words in italics. Just a small thing but it may help catch your eye. The newsletter will stay for now but I am also looking at providing a video message instead. Maybe you can listen to is as you drive? Or as you cook dinner, or get your children to watch Mrs Rolfe’s message and tell you about it. It would be less than 5 minutes. I am also looking at putting out information leaflets for more detail. For example, if I speak about uniforms, a detailed information sheet would be attached, or NAPLAN results and the data would be shared with you. That way you can have the summarised or detailed version depending on your time and level of need. So please keep watching over the coming weeks and be sure to let me know your thoughts.

MacKillop Representative Team player
Last Thursday, Patience travelled to Figtree Oval to trial for the MacKillop girls cricket team. After a busy day of showcasing her skills, Patience was selected to be a part of the MacKillop girls cricket team who will participate in the MacKillop Cricket Trials to be held in Wagga in September. Congratulations Patience on this wonderful achievement!
New Playgrounds
The playgrounds have not been officially handed over yet though the students have been able, with their class teachers, to do a walk around to help us decide what types of games we can play on them. This is so we are ready to use them as soon as we are allowed. Teachers will complete risk assessments and plans to minimise risk this afternoon and altered playground rosters are ready to go so hopefully it won’t be too much longer before we can use those areas.

Assembly will be held each fortnight on the basketball court. The front gate will open for you to come in at about 1.40pm – once most of the students have moved down to the court we will aim to start about 1.45pm.

Opening School Mass & Year 6 Leader Induction
You are warmly invited to attend our official School Opening Mass. We will be celebrating Mass as a school community with Kindergarten - Year 6 attending. Our school leaders will be officially inducted and will receive their badges on the day.
Mt Carmel Enrolments Year 7 2025 - The College Information Night will be held on Wednesday 6 March 2024 commencing at 6.15pm in the Champagnat Centre followed by a presentation at 7.00pm. Expressions of interest to attend the evening can be made via online portal using this link. We encourage parents to attend the evening prior to completing an enrolment application.
