Dear Parents and Carers,
As we prepare to celebrate Fathers' Day this weekend we wish Happy Fathers' Day to all our Mary Immaculate fathers, grandfathers, and stepfathers! Thank you to our P&F for helping our students to celebrate this special day with the special men in their family.
This celebration gives us reason to pause, to pray for, and to reflect on the Fathers we honour. On this Fathers' Day, we celebrate, congratulate, and pray for the men who continue to reflect the Divine qualities of fatherhood as they lovingly establish, nourish, and maintain their families. Fathers are a blessing, and we thank them for blessing us with lives of dedication, endurance, and love.
Every father is a work in progress and each father is unique. There is no one-size-fits-all pattern for fatherhood. Fathers-to-be, have often developed a clear sense of the kind of parent they intend to become. They know, at least, what kind of parent they don’t want to be. But the first days after a child’s birth, these thoughts are challenged by the realisation that fatherhood is a real-life role that is influenced daily by the unexpected. A new father, in a sense, embarks on a pilgrimage of sorts. As the child grows older, a father is repeatedly challenged to understand, support and always love his child, who, it turns out, is nothing less than the complex web of humanity that all of us are.
The pilgrimage into fatherhood has one big starting point followed by a thousand new starting points along the way. The journey is long. Over time a father finds himself tugged at and urged along both in welcome and unwelcomed ways. The journey into fatherhood challenges a man to grow and change in ways he could not imagine on the day of his first child’s birth. Slowly, life transforms for parents ~ fathers and mothers.
A father’s pilgrimage is a vocation, calling him to discover each child as a unique individual and to nurture that. But he discovers something else too. Little by little, astonishingly, he discovers himself along the way ~ someone whose hidden gifts have been unearthed by his children.
We remember and gratefully keep in our prayers all the Mary Immaculate fathers and father figures as they continue their daily pilgrimage.
We give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old.
We pray for young fathers newly embracing their vocation;
May they find courage and perseverance
to balance work, family, and faith in joy and sacrifice.
We pray for fathers around the world
whose children are lost and suffering;
May they know that the God of compassion
walks with them in their sorrow.
We pray for men who are not fathers
but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice.
We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers
who are no longer with us
but who live forever in our memory
and nourish us with their love,
Amen.

STUDENTS NOT RETURNING IN 2023
If parents are already aware that their child/ren will not be returning to Mary Immaculate in 2023, we request that this information be provided to Mrs Pizarro in the School Office as soon as possible. This information will assist us with accommodating both new applications and students who are currently on our waiting list.
CLASS FORMATION FOR 2023
The lengthy process of class formation for 2023 will commence in earnest in Term 4.
This process involves the current class teachers preparing draft lists for next year’s classes. This process takes into consideration the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each individual student. Decisions are made to establish balanced, equitable class groups with the potential to work well together. As the teachers know the students within the school environment exceptionally well, the best interest of each individual student is always considered during the discernment process.
Parents are invited annually to contribute to the process of class formation by informing us in writing of any special needs that may affect class placement. Please complete the linked form to provide input regarding the class placement of your child in 2023.

It is important to note that whilst parental requests are considered, there is never a guarantee that these requests will be granted. If parents make a request, particularly about their child being placed within a friendship group, please be aware that there may be circumstances surrounding such requests that may prevent it from being granted.
All requests are considered when classes are constructed and must be provided prior to classes being finalised.

We look forward to seeing all of our fathers and those who are like fathers to us!

Congratulations to 5 Gold on earning a Gold Star last week, well done. Let’s hope we see a few more this week, sadly lots of us are becoming very forgetful, so many things to remember! It is important to bring our Library bags to transport the books we borrow to and from school safely. Remember that without a Library bag we are unable to borrow. If anyone has old Library bags at home no longer in use, or cloth bags which could be used as Library bags, we would be grateful for them in the Library. It is handy to have some spares which we can use as Loan bags when students forget their own. Thank you.
Our Gold Star tallies for the year so far:
K Gold – 1 K Blue – 4
2 Gold – 3 2 Blue – 1

Book Week 2022: Dreaming with eyes open!! Congratulations to all the wonderful book characters who turned up to school last Thursday – so many different characters looking amazing. Both staff and students went to so much effort with their costumes, making for a fun day. Our visiting Author, Sue Whiting, was very impressed with our students too. We all enjoyed listening to her stories, inspiring us to become better story tellers.
Premiers’ Reading Challenge 2022: Congratulations to the students who successfully completed the challenge this year. We had 200 students who managed to read the required number and enter them online. There were another 146 who started but did not quite reach the target – better luck next year! Even though the Challenge may be finished, it is important that we continue to read each day.
Scholastic Book Club: Catalogues went home last week for ordering online. Orders will close next Thursday 8 September. Thank you for your support with this program.
"So please, oh PLEASE, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away.
And in its place you can install,
A lovely bookshelf on the wall."

Happy reading!
