2020 SWIMMING CARNIVAL

PROPOSED ORDER OF EVENTS

 This may be altered at the discretion of the Carnival Convenor, should the need arise.

Outline of the day (please be understanding that times are approximate) 

9:20am

100m Freestyle

9:40am

Welcome (Children sitting in grandstands in house colours) Year 6 then age groups 8/9, 10, 11, 12 to back of stands

Housekeeping/Rules/Guidelines for the day

Cheers

Move to 50m & 25m races. Non-swimmers remain in stands to cheer 50m swimmers on.

Competitive Races

Races begin with 8 year olds through to 12 year olds.

Novelty Events

15 min rotations between the grass area and the play pool.

* Grandstand supervisors (teachers) will accompany each grade to the novelty area found on the grass/play pool.

LUNCH

1:10pm

Clean Up/Pickup

Students return to the grandstand to clean up. Students may be collected from the grandstand by their parents. Children who are being collected are to get their name marked off by their classroom teacher. Students travelling back to school by bus will then line up with teachers.

1:30pm

 

Carnival Concludes

All other students are to walk to the bus lines with their teacher to travel back to school.

 What to bring:

  • Swimming costume worn underneath Sports Uniform.
  • Food and water for the day (Kiosk is only available for parents).
  • Hat and sunscreen to re-apply during the day.
  • Goggles and swimming cap (optional).
  • Asthmatics will be required to bring their own medication with them.
  • Plastic bag for wet towel and swimmers.
  • Underwear to change into at the conclusion of the carnival.

 Please note:

  • To promote sun safety, encourage your child to bring a rash shirt on the day.
  • Thongs/sandals are permitted to be worn whilst transitioning between activities. 

Pick up procedures:

  • Parents may take their child home from the venue between 1.10pm and 1.30pm. Please ensure you see your child’s classroom teacher to sign them out before leaving. 

Failure to return permission slip:

  • Students who have not returned a signed permission slip will not be able to attend the carnival and will remain at school.
