Last Sunday’s Gospel

Last Sunday’s Gospel

Luke presents the story told about entering the Kingdom of Heaven. We should not take it for granted even if we know Jesus. We have to unload all the things that hold us back from truly being a follower of Him. Having money, houses, clothes and cars - material possessions, is acceptable as long as we also use our possessions to help those who are not as fortunate as we are. We cannot take them with us so we must make sure we are not concentrating on these things instead of on our relationships with each other and with God.

From the Principal and Assistant Principal…

Term 3 Parent Information and Q and A Session Update

Behaviour Data - parents were concerned about the number of recorded incidents of defiance, non-compliance and disrespect. Some good news is that high level physical incidents have halved in Term 2.

Correction Sequence - We have included the correction sequence in this newsletter for your information at the request of parents. We appreciate your interest and support in trying to make the school a safer and happier place for all students. Please note that ‘complete school work’ as a time out - low,  is only if the reason for not doing it is due to poor student choices despite correction and support, not ever because the work is too hard for them. If you have any questions about it, please ask.

School Uniforms - all parents indicated that looking at refreshing and updating the uniform was a good idea. Minimising the number of items needing to be purchased was also popular, for example, the zip up jacket could be used for sport days as well as usual days. The next step is to ask Lowes to come up with some designs and samples. We will then consult with the community showing ideas and gaining feedback from you. The aim would be to start with Kindergarten in 2027 and other grades as items need to be purchased. A five year change over period is usually sufficient. Parents thought this would be a good opportunity to uplift the uniform standard too.

Parent Induction - Your Action Required Please

There have been some changes to the Parent Induction process. The good news is that the course we run at school that many of you have done remains unchanged. We can and will  keep that part as is. The change is how you make the declaration that you have not been prohibited from working with children. If you have done the course, you may remember filling in a paper form. This is the part that has changed. The management of this part is being centralised with our Catholic Education Office and will be linked into the sign in and out system. They will also verify declarations and monitor any change in status.

We need every parent, whether you have done the course of not or have completed a paper copy or not, to complete the online registration/declaration process.

Here is the link… https://apps.dow.catholic.edu.au/vms/induction/new.

This step will also be included in all future courses so new parents will be able to do it all at once.  When your declaration has been verified you will be issued with a QR code to use when you sign in and out with all your details already filled in for you. Thank you in advance for your understanding and for participating so willingly in this important step to help us keep our students safe at school. I ran three Induction sessions on Tuesday so parents could help at the soccer gala day. Thank you for volunteering so all our teams could attend!
