FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Last Sunday’s Gospel

Pic_1.jfif

Jesus went back to heaven after spending time with the disciples following His Resurrection. We call it the Ascension because Jesus ascended into heaven. It is a story told in the Gospels and the first part of the Acts of the Apostles written by Luke. Jesus’ last words to his disciples, and to all of us were, “Remember I am with you always, until the end of time.” Sometimes we forget this! If we look around we will see Jesus in people and especially in the Eucharist.

Parent Information and Q and A Session

Pic_1.png

A number of parents joined us - thank you, for these sessions last week. We presented information about how many Mission Points students needed and therefore how many teachers need to be giving to enable a reasonable chance at a Medallion by the end of primary school. Teachers would be giving out on average 30 points each day to various students and may have different systems in their classrooms to enable this. Points are tracked on cards. If you have any questions, please ask your child’s teacher. We also showed an alternative to the current woollen jumper. It is a cotton mix and is much less ‘scratchy’. It looks almost identical to the woollen one. We propose having a choice between the two.

In brief, parents asked questions about…

  • the events calendar. It is on Compass and the school website.
  • SeeSaw posts. We will check that a minimum of 1-2 posts are going out each week.
  • SeeSaw for Parent Communication. Emails to the office were introduced to track timely response to queries,  to make sure the correct people knew about the question and to answer simple queries on behalf of teachers.
  • some parents feel a bit put off by the formality of an email where SeeSaw is for a quick message. Please also use email for a quick one line message. We do not expect formality at all. It’s just the easiest platform for us to make sure you are getting a timely response.
  • parents spoke about inconsistencies in the school uniform and that various fabrics are uncomfortable or unsightly. Also that any tracksuit pants, grey or green pants seem acceptable and while this minimises cost, it doesn’t look ‘uniform’. We will look at the possibility of refreshing the school uniform and consult with parents about this.
  • eating time. Students are given time to eat when they come in and can often begin work such as listening to instructions while they finish their food. Younger classes give longer just as they did with eating first. We will conduct a review of this.
  • can we have a follow up of behaviour data? Yes for an upcoming meeting.

First Communion

Congratulations to the children of our parish receiving their First Holy Communion over the coming weeks. It is a very special time for the children and their families.

Assembly

We have double awards to give out this week at assembly due to the last cancellation as a result of the weather. We look forward to seeing you there.

God Bless!
