From the Principal and Assistant Principal
Last Sunday’s Gospel…
Jesus spoke about one of the greatest challenges of all. Loving without being loved in return. Giving with no thought of getting anything back. Showing kindness even if we are treated badly. This was very different to the previous teaching when it was believed every wrongdoing should be done in return. It someone hits you, hit back harder. Unfortunately, some of the problems in the world today are caused by this belief. Who is the one with enough courage to stop an argument by refusing to argue? Jesus is definitely not saying we shouldn’t fight for what is right. He is saying however that we must think about our responses and be the bigger person even when we don’t feel like it. Studies have shown that this is why Christians throughout history have survived better than other groups of people. Christians are prepared to put the needs of other people before their own and do extra for their ‘neighbour’ thus surviving plagues, famine and even war in larger numbers than other people. Jesus certainly did know what he was talking about.
From the Principal and Assistant Principal…
Thank you!
The car pick up line has operated much better over the last two days! Thank you for your help. We definitely couldn’t have this much improvement without your contribution.
Morning Tea and Lunch Swap
After a couple of days that were an adjustment, this seems to be working well. The students I have spoken to seem happy and when I ask why they say because they are really hungry at Break 1 or others like having a choice. If you are finding any difficulties, please let us know.
Cyclic Inquiry
We are currently assembling information and writing a report for our Cyclic Inquiry. This is a process undertaken every five years as part of the Continuous Catholic School Improvement framework in our Diocese. It examines all areas of school life against the School Improvement Tool and other legislative documents. A significant part of the report is parent voice too. All the data we collected from you from the Parent Forum, Tell Them From Me Survey, Principal Q and A's last year and other surveys about such things as the P&F and homework all contribute to the report too. Once all the data has been collated and examined it is presented in a report for an external panel. They then visit the school and verify or challenge what the report contains and affirm or make different recommendations about areas for improvement that the school staff have put forward. From these recommendations a five year strategic plan is developed. Our report and the visits all happen next month so either late this term or early next we will be able to share some of this information with you.
