FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS

REMINDER ASSEMBLY THIS FRIDAY

From the Principal

Jesus explained to His disciples that He was the Bread from Heaven that would give life to the  world. They would have been confused by this wondering how their friend and teacher could possibly be bread. In the Old Testament God provided Moses and the Israelites escaping from Egypt manna from heaven so they could survive in the desert. Jesus was telling the disciples that He would replace that with Himself and become the Eucharist that continues to nourish us today. Of course that didn’t make sense to the apostles but with the Last Supper and Jesus’ death and resurrection, events we know about, we have the advantage of being able to understand what Jesus meant.

NEWS

Athletics Achievements
We were fortunate to be able to send a team of Athletes to the Western Region Athletics Carnival and they did us proud. In addition to their athletics achievements, I received many reports of the  positive behaviour. That doesn’t just come from the school. It’s parents working with us on expectations as well so thank you! We have ten athletes now competing at Diocesan level which is very exciting. I wish them well for the competition next week.

Book Week

The approach of Book Week is an exciting time with many students, and staff, talking about their costumes. It will be a lovely day. Please don’t feel any pressure to spend a great deal of money on costumes. The point is to celebrate and enjoy reading and some of the best costumes are very creative but low cost. I look forward to seeing you when you arrive for classroom visits before I have to leave for a Principal Meeting. I’m sorry I’ll miss the parade!

Colour Run

As I am sure you have heard, the colour run is generating a lot of excitement. There are around 200 of our students who have already made the total around $20,000! Many have yet to make a donation but there’s still time! If you are having any trouble registering, please don’t hesitate to ask for help.

Fathers' Day Stall
It isn’t long now until Father’s Day. Our Mother’s Day stall was very successful and we had lots of happy Mums and Grandmums. We’ll do the same for our Dads and Grandads.

Assembly
We have a lot of K - 2 awards to give out, catching up on previous assemblies as well as our usual awards for the past fortnight. You will notice we are trying a new seating plan for assembly when you arrive. It is to help with efficient movement and to avoid the puddle until we have those works completed. It also bring parents closer to the students receiving awards and provides better viewing with a bigger front row. And there should be more room for prams too. We are trying it for the first time on Friday so will see how well it works.

God Bless,

Michelle Rolfe
