FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Jesus told us a parable to help us be ready for whenever our time comes to join Him in heaven or when He comes back to collect us. It was not enough for the women in the story to just be carrying lamps as asked, they also needed to show they were ready, using their own initiative, by carrying some oil as well. What is it that we need to do, even without being told, to make sure we are ready for Jesus?
Pic_3.jpgKara from Year 5 is representing our school at the finals of the Diocesan Public Speaking Competition on Friday. It is very exciting for us to have someone achieving at that level! Mrs Smith will be attending as Mrs Rolfe’s representative because she will be at Camp with Year 5 and Mr Burns will be looking after everyone at school. Good luck Kara! We are very proud of you.

We are also very proud of our high achievers in Sport! Mr Burns attended the Diocesan Sport Presentation evening in Wollongong last Friday evening. We were very fortunate in having two students receive awards. Congratulations to Larae A and Maia T!

We are working hard to finalise staffing – our support staff as well as teaching staff. I hope to be able to have it settled as soon as possible.

We are beginning to plan for the Swimming Carnival which will be held in early 2024.
All students in Years 3 - 6 will be attending. It was one of the things many of you asked for at the parent forum. There may be the opportunity to include the younger students in the future but we are starting with Years 3 - 6 first. There will be events for non swimmers too. We will share the details with you closer to the time including a request for parent helpers.

Pic_3.jpg.pngAnother matter that came up at the parent forums was to have the Year 6 Farewell Liturgy and dinner on separate nights. We have made that adjustment this year. We would like you to consider some different options moving forward. The reason is that having two nights out at that time of year is a lot to ask of parents and staff. Perhaps the farewell liturgy could combine with the End of Year Mass and ‘Walk Out’ during the day so the whole school has the chance to farewell Year 6 for example? And we wonder whether we should explore parents coming to the dinner with their children? We know it raises costs but could be a nice occasion to share together? Nothing has been decided! We wanted to raise it with plenty of time and as you to think about it for now.

God Bless,

Michelle Rolfe - Principal
