FROM THE PRINCIPALS DESK

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is with great delight that I can confirm that the long-awaited building project will commence in earnest during the holiday break. This will involve the demolition of the previous Year 2 building. As a result of this work there will be a need to review our current school procedures for arrival, dismissal and possibly during break times.

These works together with the road works outside our school entrance will require flexibility and patience as we all readjust to new routines that may be different to those we have come to depend upon. We will aim to communicate all arrangements as soon as this information is available.

I want to express my admiration to our dedicated staff, and our parent, grandparent and student members who have already shown enormous flexibility and endurance in adapting to the changes necessary to make this project possible.

We wish all our families a safe and rest filled holiday break. It is unbelievable that when we return next term it will be for the last term of 2022. This important term will provide an opportunity to commence the transition processes for our Kindergarten 2023 students and families while also preparing to farewell our current Year 6 students as they prepare for their transition to the next stage of their educational journey.

May Christ continue to be your guide during the holiday break.

 PUBLIC SPEAKING

During the last few weeks of Term 3, students in Stage 3 have been involved in preparing and presenting speeches on a range of topics for this year's Diocesan Public Speaking Competition. Grade finalists presented speeches at the School Final last Friday.

Well done to our school finalists;

Year 6 - Jarrod B, Steven M, Harper V, Roy A, Zara S, Amber R

Year 5 - Tamara N, Akansha C

Much gratitude is extended to Victoria Z (Mount Carmel College) who had the difficult task of adjudicating the final and selecting our school finalists who will represent Mary Immaculate at the Regional Final at St Paul’s, Camden in Term 4.

Congratulations to our school representatives Akansha C and Amber R.

Gratitude is extended to Mrs Mortimer and Mrs Young for coordinating the Stage 3 competition and supporting the students in this wonderful extra curriculum opportunity.

CLASS FORMATION FOR 2023

Thank you to the many parents who have provided input into the class formation process that will commence in earnest in Term 4.

This process involves the current class teachers preparing draft lists for next year’s classes. The process takes into consideration the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each individual student. Decisions are made to establish balanced, equitable class groups with the potential to work well together. As the teachers know the students within the school environment exceptionally well, the best interest of each individual student is always considered during the discernment process.

Parents are invited annually to contribute to the process of class formation by informing us in writing of any special needs that may affect class placement. Please complete the linked form to provide input regarding the class placement of your child in 2023.

It is important to note that whilst parental requests are considered, there is never a guarantee that these requests will be granted. If parents make a request, particularly about their child being placed within a friendship group, please be aware that there may be circumstances surrounding such requests that may prevent it from being granted.

All requests are considered when classes are constructed and must be provided prior to classes being finalised.
