FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Life_Education.jpg

Over the last two weeks all classes have visited the Life Education Van. The children were all very excited about participating in this incursion. I thank all students for their wonderful behaviour and thoughtful contributions to these sessions. I have included some comments and photos from each grade below.

YEAR 6

Life education was a fun and informative experience for Year Six. We learned lots of interesting facts about Decision Making and Safety around Drugs. There were lots of fun activities to be involved in that got us thinking about the decisions we make throughout our lives. There are a lot of choices we make… some are small, some are big and can change our lives. Below are the 5 steps we learned about for safe decision making:
  1. Ask ‘what would you do if…?’
  2. Create a list of solutions. Ask ‘What else might someone do?’
  3. Play with pros and cons for each solution
  4. Discuss how they’d feel after making each decision and why
  5. Choose the best decision and role play them

It's a bit sad because this was the last time going to see Healthy Harold and Life Education was an amazing experience for us and we learnt a lot of fun facts and we really enjoyed the session.

YEAR 5

Last week, Year 5 got the opportunity to go to Life Education. We learnt many facts about our health, healthy friendships, Cybersafety and Cyber bullying. We learnt a saying called R.O.A.R which stands for – Respect yourself, Own your behaviour and actions, Accept others perspectives and experiences, Resolve conflict. By following R.O.A.R it will help us to become a more understanding friend.

YEAR 4

At Life Education, Year 4 learnt that it is not good for your body if you have too much medicine or not enough medicine. We learnt that there are two types of drugs, legal and illegal. We also learnt that it is important to be confident when trying to make friends and not to be too passive or aggressive.
